Happening

One Year

April 2019 - April 2020. A year of growth that has forced me so far out of my comfort zone and has taught me so much. From departing a job that made me unhappy, to finding Ola Collective and freelancing, a 1,400 mile road trip, and now the lockdown and pandemic; I am truly grateful for the people who made this last year absolutely incredible.

“Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends” is an understatement during this last year. With some luck and some amazing friends, I was able to go from unemployed to photographing full time by summer. I can not thank the friends who helped me out along the way enough, giving me work, going for a surf or adventure, and all of their support. I’m forever grateful for all they have done.

When I least expected it, an opportunity presented itself and I had to pursue it. To work and mentor under an incredible group of artists at Ola Collective was the experience of a lifetime. The summer flew by meeting so many amazing people and enjoying learning to photograph a wide variety of events.

Amongst all the great times, some days just stood out amongst the rest. Finding a day with crystal clear glassy water, or a fathers day session at a wave that usually only breaks in winter, and a road trip with my dad; this was a summer for the books.

As we all anticipated the roar of the new decade 2020 started off with some hope and uncertainty. With the effects of Covid-19 on tourism starting to show, it has given time to really connect with people during sessions, and focus on doing what is important to you.
Some of my favorite sessions and adventures happened in these last few months of 2020; and with the lockdown/quarantine rules constantly changing, I look forward to getting back to somewhat normal and more incredible adventures.
